I find it very hard to believe in a god

but i find it equally hard to believe in the evolution theory .

so for now, i chose not to believe in anything but myself and love.

You don't have to make a choice to believe in God or evolution. It is ok to believe in both or neither if that is where you are at. I think the belief that evolution and creation are mutually exclusive is something that has been pushed mostly here in the US and I guess it is spreading. One of the things that confuses matter is how some of the terms are used here. The term creationism has come to mean someone who takes the Bibical account literally and doesn't believe in evolution where as it should refer to a belief that a creator did have a hand in it. I think people that take the so called creationist view are turning a blind eye to both science and the Bible. The Genesis accounts of creation to me seem pretty obvious to be neither history or science.

It isn't possible to force yourself to believe in God just as it isn't possible to force yourself not to believe in God so all you can do is believe what you believe and if what you believe changes over time as I'm sure it will so be it. That is what life is all about.

I quit, thank you, too. . . I'm, actually, sitting here wondering when my hair is going to start falling out and if I will wear my head bald or get a wig??

My wife never did loose all her hair when she went through chemo. It got thin but it never completely fell out. I think it was because her hair was very thick. She got two wigs when she started treatment but hardly ever wore them. It has been over nine years now since her last treatment and she is doing fine.

GLOBAL WARMING - "Snowfalls are a thing of the past"

I've heard commentators on the radio point to a cold spell as proof that gobal warming is a myth. Not very scientific but it is enough to convince their audience that it is ok for them to continue polute the environment and squander our natural resources. Even if someone doesn't believe global warming why is it so difficult for them understand that if we continue to suck all the oil out of the earth and burn it up eventually there will be none left for our children. What took millions of years form in the earth and we are unable to replace completed used up within a few generations. Doesn't it just make a lot more sensed to get off our addictions things like oil and coal and develope renewable energy that doesn't stink up and polute the air we have to breath? Assuming gobal warming isn't real what would have been the harm in acting as if it was? And if it does turn out to be real and we continue to ingore it we could reach a point where it is to late to do anything about it?

How should I reply?

so i wrote an email to my brother to tell him that i love him and that it's sad that a religion has come between us.

this is the reply i got:.

I feel bad that you had to get such a nasty email from your brother on Christmas morning. I don't think at this stage there is anything you can say that will get throught to him so don't be surprised if you get another nasty email from him or no reply at all. There is nothing more blind and than a new dub except maybe a newly reformed dub. If you choose to reply I would try to say what you feel is most important to get across to him first because if he does read your email at all he won't get too far into it before all his Watchtower defences go up and he will become completely unreasonable. I would let him know that just because at this time he feels that way about you it doesn't mean that you feel that way about him and that you intend to email him once in a while to see how he is doing and it will be his choice whether he wishes to reply or not.

After a while he may soften but right now he is on fire for the Watchtower so don't expect to see anything other than the ugly behavior that Witnesses are so good at dealing out to those can no longer put their faith in the cult.

You know when I look at posts like yours I think. How did I ever believe that crap? What a nasty piece of work I must have been while thinking I was in the one true religion serving the one true God. Anyway I got over it and I hope and pray that some day your brother will also.

Ok, so there is a gap in my reasoning ... but that's a good thing

i was going to post a 'welcome' message for all the new people who may have got a computer for christmas and are making their first forray into the online world.. of course, not many jws are going to be getting a computer or much else for christmas right?.

kinda-strange for me to forget about such a big thing like that eh?!

it's pretty good though to have moved on so that the jw indoctrinated mindset isn't the first thing that springs to mind.. hope you're all having a great christmas and wherever you are in the recovery process that you feel a little bit better today than you did yesterday, more free and relaxed than you did last year and looking forward to your new life in 2011.. there's going to be lots of changes coming for this site hopefully in the next week or so and probably continuing over the next year.

OnTheWayOut, Witnesses like to think they are persecuted for beliefs when in fact in many cases their friends and relatives are walking on eggs so as not to offend their over the top sensitivies. You really start to see this one you are out. Have wonderful Christmas.
